Downtown Las Vegas is a great place to find blackjack games. It is the one area in Las Vegas that pays 3-2 on blackjack on single deck games. However, players are only allowed to double down on 10’s and 11’s and never after splitting. Players can find this game, with a minimum of $5, at The D and El Cortez. Binion’s offers the game, but with a $25 minimum.
El Cortez, on top of offering single deck, they also offer double deck games where they have player-friendly rules of doubling after splitting, with a great $3 minimum. There are other downtown casinos that offer these same rules, but are typically $5 or $10 minimums; with the Golden Nugget offering these rules only in high limit rooms. None of the downtown properties offer games where the dealer stands on all 17’s.
The newest casino to open in downtown Las Vegas is the Downtown Grand. It offers decent blackjack rules, but their double deck game has a minimum bet of $25.
Since 2013, downtown Vegas no longer has any video blackjack machines. This is regrettable, as these machines gave players great comps and points.
